Bhutan is also known as the “Kingdom of Happiness ” because Bhutan has both natural beauty and cultural wealth so carefully preserved and passed down from generation to generation.

Some important things that not allowed to do in Bhutan – Bhutan is not a budget travel destination and not allowed to travel as a backpacker-style. Travel must be organized through Government-approved agencies and be paid in full amount before the visa and ticketing process. If you are traveling alone, you have to pay $40 each day of your stay in Bhutan.

As possible as don’t take jeans, half paints and transparent clothes to respect local people and culture of Bhutanese. please take permission or ask to your tour guide before to take photographs of peoples or temples.

Take Dollars or Rupees with you, your visa fee covers almost all of your stay of Bhutan but if you want to buy some things, Tips to your guide and wanna give donation you will need cash because the ATM is available only in larger cities.

Smoke – The products of Tobacco and Smoking Cigarettes are completely banned in public places so beware to do it. If you really want to do it, you can ask to your guide, he will bring you to some places to smoke cigarettes.

Tour Details

Day 01 – Arrival in Kathmandu and escort to the hotel – we will receive you at Tribhuwan international airport in Kathmandu then escort to the hotel, your hotel will be in the center of Kathmandu called Thamel which is one of the main tourist hubs in Nepal. After checking in the hotel we will talk over your Bhutan trip.

Day 02 – Exploration of Kathmandu city – we will explore some of the historical and pilgrimage sites of Kathmandu city like Pashupatinath Hindu temple, Baudhanath Buddhist Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Kathmandu durbar square which are listed as world heritage sites by the UNESCO.

Day 03 – Fly to Paro and transfer to Thimpu – 1:15 minutes flight – you will fly approximately one hour and fifteen minutes to get Paro airport which will be a very pleasant flight due to see admirable mountain ranges of Nepal and Bhutan. Your guide of Bhutan receives you at Paro airport and he will transfer you to Thimpu by jeep which is 47 kilometers far from Paro airport. After checking in the hotel in Thimpu, your guide brief for you about your tour programs and schedule. In the afternoon you will visit the weekend market called (Thu-Sun) vegetable vendors from different packets of fruits and vegetables. In the evening you will explore Tashichho Drong which houses the throne room of His Majesty the king.

Day 04 – Sightseeing in Thimphu  – You will explore some of the impressive places of Thimphu like Zorig Chusum to see local students learning traditional handcrafting skills in this art school, Coronation Park where you can stroll for a while with a beautiful view of the calm park and then you will visit the folk heritage museum which is the museum of houses the relics and documents related to the educational history and ancient Bhutanese people’ daily life. A restored three-storeyed traditional rammed mud and timber house are the highlights in the museum.

Changangkha Lhakhang – You can have a fascinating view of Thimphu Valley there.

Day 05 – Transfer to Gangtey – Today, you will be transferred to Gangtey, which is well-known as one of the most beautiful places in Bhutan. The sceneries along the road will not make you feel bored. The far views of 7 giant mountains (around 7000 meters high) and 108 chortens or stupas are the rewards while driving through the Dochu-La (pass). After lunch, visit the Gangtey Valley and Monastery before finally getting to the Black Necked crane information center where is equipped with high-power telescope and spotting scopes. These facilities allow you to catch every move of the Black Necked Cranes.

Day 06 – Day4 Drive to Punakha and Visit Chimi Lhakhang – Punakha is 74 kilometers far from Gangtey and the jeep may take approximately three hours to get there. Along the trail, you will have admirable views of the terraced field, green forest, and dozens of villages. When reaching in Punakha you will visit a beautiful monastery which is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley, who taught Buddhism in a humorous and dramatic way. He was nicknamed “Divine Madman” due to his behaviors. Local people pray for children in this monastery.

Day 07 – Sightseeing in Punakha – There are dozens of interesting this around the Punakha but still Hike to Khamsung Yuelley Namgel chhoretn will be a trustworthy hike that was built in a painting-like Punakha Valley. Local people believe the Chorten can remove negative forces and promote peace, stability, and harmony in the changing world. After lunch, visit the Punakha Dzong a historical site that survived 4 fires and 1 earthquake. The Dzong is open for visitors during the Punakha festival and in summer months when the monk body moves to Thimphu. Drive to the Limbukha Village after lunch to see the fields of red rice, which is of high medicinal values. You will feel the local people’s love for peace and tranquility there.

Day 08 – Drive back to Paro and exploration of Paro Dzong and national museum – Today you will go back to Paro, where you entered Bhutan 5 days ago without taking any sightseeing activities. Explore the national museum where houses lots of exquisite local artworks and Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), where offers you a beautiful river view.

Day 09 – Exploration of Taktshang Monastery – Taktshang monastery is also known as the Tiger nest monastery that may take 2.5 hours’ hiking are needed to reach Taktshang Monastery, the most famous religious relic in Bhutan. It is possible to take a rest at the view terrace, which is located on the halfway point of the hiking route. You could also visit Kyichu Temple during the hike. The sceneries will not let you down.

Day 10 – Excursion to Chele La Pass and Kila Gompa – Drive to the 3800-meter-high Chele La pass where you will have a splendid view of the Himalaya range. You can hike to a viewpoint with an altitude of 4500 meters for an even better view of Mount Jomolhari. At last, hike through rhododendron and hemlock forest towards Kila Gompa to catch your car back to Paro.

Day 11 – Fly back to Nepal or other countries depend on your interest and holiday schedule. Some travelers fly to India to visit Goa, Monali, or other pilgrimage sites of India. Most of the travelers return to Nepal due to the cheap fare of the plane and short distance.

Generally; speaking, Bhutan trips is can be visited throughout the year except during the height of monsoon months (halfway through June to end of August). Even during the winter, people have successfully traveled Bhutan, although cold weather could be detrimental for some, especially if you are a novice trekking trip in Bhutan. If you are planning to do any tours in Bhutan then September to November would be the best season to explore Bhutan.

If your holiday in spring season then February to the end of April is the best season for Bhutan trip because you will see clear mountains view, blue sky, and rewards you with blooming many species of flowers.

Except for the visitors from India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, all other visitors traveling to Bhutan need a visa. 

Indian, Bangladeshis, and Maldivian nationals can obtain a permit at the port of entry on producing a valid passport with a minimum of 6 months validity (Indian nationals may also use their Voters Identity Card (VIC)). 

All other tourists must obtain a visa clearance prior to the travel to Bhutan. Visas are processed through an online system by your licensed Bhutanese tour operator directly or through a foreign travel agent. 

You are required to send the photo-page of your passport to your tour operator who will then apply for your visa. The visa will be processed by the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) once the full payment of your holiday (including a USD $40 visa fee) has been wire transferred and received in the TCB bank account. Once received, the visa clearance will be processed within 72 working hours. 

At your point of entry, you will be required to show your visa clearance letter, the visa will then be stamped into your passport. 

Online Regional Permit System

In order to streamline and facilitate smooth visitation by tourists from Bangladesh, India, and the Maldives, the Department of Immigration, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs and the Tourism Council of Bhutan have launched the Online Permit System. The system facilitates the online processing of permits for regional tourists through registered Bhutanese tour operators and TCB certified hotels. The facility is offered as an optional channel to process permits for visitors from the region and is applicable for entry from Paro and Phuntsholing. Visitors who use this facility will be able to obtain their permit clearances and route permits ahead of their arrival in Bhutan similar to international tourists. 

You going to do a city tour and only one day’s hike in Bhutan so you don’t need such a lot of clothes and equipment although please prepare with this equipment.
