Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha pass is one of the fascinating trekking trail of Nepal; that commands to explore dozens of sacred places, hidden valleys, ancient settlements and purpose to see charms landscapes, green forest, wide meadows and splendid Himalayan views including some of the top ten mountains of the world known as Cho-Oyu 8201m, Lhotse 8516m, Makalu 8481m and mount Everest 8848 meters high.

Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha pass begins with drive to Gonggar via Dolakha and the trail passes though the many villages known as Simigaun, Bedding gaun and enters to the high alpine region. Most of the time trekkers have to walk on a steep hills, lots of patience and rock climbing and have to cross Tashi Lapcha pass 5755 meter, which is well known as a bitter and killer mountain pass of Nepal. Trek into the Tashi Lapcha pass commands to the trekkers to see amazing view of Mount Gaurishankar 7134 m, Ramdung Go 5930 m, Kongde peak 6187m, Thamserku 6623m, Taboche 6522m, Kusum Kangaroo 6367m, Amadablam 6812 m, Nuptse 7861 m and including some of the top ten mountains of the world known as Cho-Oyu 8201m, Lhotse 8516 m, Makalu 8481 m and Mount Everest 8848 meters high.

Apart of high mountain views the Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha pass trekking trail offers to see charms landscapes, gigantic grassy land, waterfalls, deep gorge, glaciers and glacial lakes known as Tsho Rolpa Lake; which is biggest lake of Nepal and located an altitude of 4580 m. During the Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha pass trekkers may pass dozens of villages which are settle over the vertical land and inhabitant by the Tamang and Sherpa peoples who are practicing Buddhism so along the trekking trail trekkers can explore old monasteries, Stupa, colorful Chhortens, hanging prayer flags and long Mani walls which are well carved the image of Buddha and Buddhist deities.

Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) The festival is used to organized by Tengboche monastery and officiated at Thame and Chiwong monasteries. Following the full moon in autumn, the event is celebrated for 19 days with three days of public viewing. Lamas and Locals assemble at the monastery for five days with the motive of spreading peace and prosperity in the world, witnessing plays symbolizing   the positive forces conquering demons is an experience of a lifetime. One can easily be in awe of staggering mask dance, prayers and colorful feasts that follow. Monks perform rituals continuously for 19 long days, chanting sacred prayers to bless the rilwu, Tshereel, the Mandala and Torma, a figure usually made of flour and butter used as offerings which are colored in reds and yellows.

Tour Details

Day 01 – Arrival and transfer to hotel – we will pick you up from the airport upon your arrival date and transfer to hotel, hotel would be in Thamel, which is main touristic place of Kathmandu city.

Day 02 – Exploration of Kathmandu valley – Sight seeing to the historical and world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley – Pashupatinath temple (Hindu shrine) Baudhanath stupa (Buddhist monument) swayambhunath also known as monkey temple (Buddhist and Hindu pilgrimage sites) and Durbar squire and trek preparation.

Day 03 – Drive to Gonggar and trek to Simigaun – we drive jeep from Kathmandu to Gonggar which may takes about 5 hours. Along the day we will see beautiful view of verdant paddy field, green forest and some of the rivers known as Bhote koshi, Sunkoshi and Tamakoshi, which are famous for the rafting. From Gonggar village we will head to Simigaun village pass by Sherpa village and Rhododendron forest. Simigaun village commands to see alluring view of Gaurishankar mountain and charms landscapes.

 Day 04 – trek to Daldung- La (3976m.a.s.l) – 7 hours walks – begins of the morning we will descend an approximately two hours through the lush forest then the trail gently ascend to a small ridge to get Rolwaling river. From the Rolwaling River the trail ascend with massif view of Gaurishankar Mountain, small waterfalls and green hill.an approximately 7 hours walk from Simigaun, we will be in Daldung-La where we will spend a joyful night.

Day 05 – trek to Bedding (3690m.a.s.l)- 8 hours walks)– the trail leads us through the lush forest of Rhododendron doing by up and downhill to get Nyamare village. Nyamare is biggest village of Rolwaling region and offers to see a beautiful Gompa and Gaurishankar temple, which is located just top of the Bedding village. We will set up tent at Bedding village and spend another cool night at bedding village.

Day 06 – Exploration day at Bedding village – actually, its a rest day of the itinerary plan but still there is a beautiful moraine above the Bedding village, on the way to Menlung La pass and offers to see glaciers, lush forest, rocky landscape, remarkable view of snowy peaks and including Gaurishankar mountain and its awesome ranges.

Day 07 – Trek to Na (4180m.a.s.l) -5 hours walks – we will ascend gradual up trail, following by the Rolwaling River to get Dhogre. After a short walk the narrow gorge opens into the wide valley thus it would be great chance to grab some photographs. Along the trail we will see huge Mani walls wrapped by the prayer flags and a huge rock with an image of Bodhisattva on it. Na gaun is settled just bank of the Rolwaling village where we will spend a pleasant night.

Day 08 – Acclimatization day at Na village 
– early in the morning, we will hike up to Yalung glaciers and Ramdung Go that help us get acclimatization and offers to see Yalung glacier, Yalung peak, training peak and alluring view of Tsho Rolpa lake.

Day 09 – Trek to Tsho Rolpa lake (4540m.a.s.l) -5 hours walks 
– after short walk from the Na gaun we will cross the Rolwaling river by wooden bridge then the uphill trail lead us through the moraines to reach the majestic Tsho Rolpa lake. The blue Tsho Rolpa Lake hosts an amazing reflection of the surrounding hills and snowy-peaks as it envelops the vicinity in tranquility.

Day 10 – Trek to Trakarding glacier (4800m.a.s.l) – 8 hours walks – trek of the day would be little bit bitter hard due to walk on the glaciers and icy trail but still along the day we will see beautiful view of Rolwaling Kang 6664 m, Takargo 6671 m, Jabou Ri 6166 meters and numerous snow caped peaks. After 7 to 8 hours walk bring us to Trakarding where we will spend a cool night.

Day 11 – Trek to Tashi Lapcha phedi – today, we will towards to Tashi Lapcha phedi and would be another bitter day due to walk slippery uphill trail, rock climbing, on a Drolambau but still we will see high numerous mountain peaks and it panoramic ranges. We will set our tent at safety places and spend pleasant night.

Day 12 – Trek to Tashi camp (5200m.a.s.l) – 7 hours walks
 – trek begins with steep climb up from the campsite and lead us through the snowy path pass by moraine, glacier to get Tashi Lapcha camp which is also called Tashi Lapcha Phuk. After 3 to 4 hours climb bring us to top of the pass, which command us to see awesome mountain views and panoramas. From the top we will enter Sagarmatha national park and a short descend bring us to Tashi Lapcha camp and we will do deep rest at our tent.

Day 13 – Trek to Thyangbo (4350m.a.s.l) – 5 hours walks – from today, mostly we will trek on downhill trail through the icy and snowy trail to get Ngole, Parchemuche Tsho, a glacial lake in the Khumbu region, en route to Thyangbo. With a view of Pasang Lhamu Chuli 7350 m and Cho-Oyu (8201m), we arrive in Thyangbo where we will set up our tent to spend cool night.

Day 14 – Trek to Thame (3820m.a.s.l) – 5 hours walks – begins of the trek, we will walk on the pasture land and arrive at the temporary yak header’s huts and then the downhill trail passes just bank of the small stream with calm environment to the Thame village where we will sleep in guest house so it would be kinds of rest day for the kitchen staffs.

Day 15 – Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m.a.s.l – 5 hours walk) – we will head down to samde village with the view of Everest, Cho-Oyu, Taboche, Kongde peak, Thamserku, Amadablam and Cholatse so trek would be really pleasant. There are dozens of guesthouses at Namche Bazaar so we will have comfortable bed and delicious meals after exploring long tine in high Himalayas.

Day 16- trek to Phakding village (2610m.a.s.l) – 5 hours walks- begin of the morning we will walk downhill trail an about one hour to get Larja dobhan then rest of the trek to Phakding village is very pleasant walk due to walk through the forest with the view of green landscape and vista stunning view of Thamserku peak.

Day 17  – Trek to Lukla Bazaar (2840m.a.s.l) – 5 hours walks 
– we will pass many Sherpa villages called Ghat, Thadokoshi, chheplung and Chaurikharka with the view of Kusum kangaroo and Kongde peak. Along the trail we will see many Chhortens, stupa, monasteries and Buddhist incantation; which are carved on the huge rocks of the center of the trail.

Day 18 – Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel – early in the morning we will fly for 25 minutes to get Kathmandu. If the weather is really clear then during the flight we will see panoramic view of Everest, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountain ranges from the window of plane.

Day 19 – Final departure – After successful trip of Rolwaling trek you will fly back to your home with great experience of outdoor activities and many tales about mountains, jungles, colorful Nepali people and their culture, traditions and unique costumes that makes you a storyteller among your friends and colleagues.

Autumn season is considered as best season to do trekking trip in Nepal due to see magnificent Himalayan views, clear sky without any clouds and Spring season is second best season to explore Himalayas of Nepal because will be dry weather and dusty; means poorer Himalayan views but the compensations are several; fewer crowds, warm weather and spectacular Rhododendrons, magnolias and Orchids blooms.

October to November – In general the first two months of the dry season offer the best weather for trekking and the main trails are heaving with trekkers at this time, for good reason.the air is crystal clear, the mountain scenery is superb and the weather is still comfortably warm.

December to February – These months are also good time for trekking trip to higher region but the cold can be bitter and dangerous at high altitudes. Getting up to the higher region and high passes can be a real endurance test and high passes are often blocked by snow.

March to April – These months are dry weather and dusty; means poorer Himalayan views but the compensations are several; fewer crowds, warm weather and spectacular Rhododendrons, magnolias and Orchids blooms.

June to September – These months are rainy season of Nepal so monsoon rains bring landslides, slippery trails and hordes of leeches. Raging rivers often wash away bridges and stretches of trekking path.

Itinerary plan – The given itinerary plan is flexible so it is possible to customize according to trekker’s desire, health condition and physical fitness.

Permits required – The Everest national park is one of the Protected area of Nepal so for those trekkers who would like to trek into these region then have pay 4390 Nepali rupees for the trekking permit and 2000 Nepali rupees for entrance fee for Pasang Lhwamu rural village development committee.

Food – we provides all kinds of meals as Pasta, macaroni, noodles, eggs, and local traditional Nepali items such ass local hand made breads, potatoes and Dal Baht which rice served with lentil soup with vegetable curry and typical pickles.

Water – water bottle is not available in Rolwaling trekking routes however, be mindful of the environmental impact your purchase/plastic bottle will have. Untreated water is available everywhere so Carry your own water treatment system.

Accommodation -You will be sleeping in tent instead of guesthouse. Normally we provides a tent for two clients but still possible to arrange single tent on client’s request for additional charge.

High altitude sickness and prevention of it – Altitude sickness, mildest from being acute mountain sickness is the negative health effect of high altitude, caused by rapid exposure to low amounts of oxygen at high elevation. Acute mountain sickness can progress to high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) with associated shortness of breath or high altitude cerebral edema (HACE) with associated confusion. Chronic mountain sickness may occur after long-term exposure to high altitude.

Symptoms of high altitude sickness – Headache, Dizziness, Nausea, Vomiting, Fatigue and loss of energy, Shortness of breath, insomnia, loss of appetite, skin discoloration (change into the blue, gray or pale), confusion, coughing, coughing of bloody mucus, chest tightness, decreased consciousness, difficult to walk in a straight line and shortness of breath even at rest.

How to skip high altitude sickness? – Ascend slowly, Get good rest, Drink plenty of water, eat appropriately, avoid the alcoholic beverage, do well acclimatization and take advise from your doctor before to get high elevation.

One can get fairly excited about a trip to a previously unknown location. But while traveling you need to make sure that you have all materials that you would require to be ready for every possible situation.
